The PB People

Who are the PB people?
The PB peoples consist of all of the original ethnic groups from our province and some of the ethnic groups from our neighboring province.  Thirteen different people groups help make up PB people.  These differing ethnic groups trace their lineage back to two original ethnic groups.

It is sometimes difficult to understand what an ethnic group is, especially for those of us whose families have lived for multiple generations in the United States.  The Bible mentions ethnic groups in Revelation 5:9 - "by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Ethnic groups are usually not defined by governmental borders, but rather by a local language, common culture, or family lineage.  The ethnic groups we work with can usually be divided even further into subgroups.  It is our desire that every group of the PB people have a chance to hear the Good News, be able to respond, and as a result have a multiplying church planted that can reach its people.

Though the PB people are very diverse in culture and language, they have one thing in common.  They have a desperate need for a Savior, Jesus Christ.  For many years, these people have followed a mixture of Islam and animism.  The PB people groups try to appease God by following the laws of Islam but they have never completely left their previous animistic beliefs.  Spiritual oppression is pervasive as people regularly are bothered by evil spirits, dabble with black magic, or visit witch doctors.

The PB people have a great spiritual need.  How wonderful it will be when representatives from each of these groups fulfill the promise of Revelation 5:9!  Will you join our team as we labor to see God's promise become reality?
